RAFFWU represents members working at IKEA every day of every week.
In 2023, we represented our members in bargaining with IKEA for a new enterprise agreement (EBA). An enterprise agreement locks in core conditions that apply to IKEA workers. It includes things like wages, penalty rates, casual loadings, leave, job security, rostering and more.
Thanks to our members’ organising, we have secured a range of very substantial improvements to the IKEA agreement. Chief among these is the opportunity for IKEA co-workers to elect to work their contracted hours as a fixed roster. This change will come into effect from March 4, 2024. If you are eligible for a fixed roster at IKEA, join RAFFWU today and we can assist you in making this happen.
Other provisions included in 2023 EBA include paid Parental Leave, Grandparent Leave, Natural Disaster Leave, Indigenous Cultural and Ceremonial Leave, and Gender Affirmation Leave. Penalty rates will also apply for workers on Personal Leave.
All these improvements to the IKEA enterprise agreement have been made due to the organising and advocacy of RAFFWU members.
If you’re a RAFFWU member at IKEA already, or looking to become one, see the dropdown box below for how to appoint RAFFWU as your bargaining representative for the next round of enterprise bargaining.
Wages at IKEA were increased by 5.75% in 2023, in line with the Fair Work Commission’s annual Minimum Wage Review. But our analysis of wages at IKEA shows that warehouse workers are being paid 20% more than store workers, when store workers are doing very similar work. More than of half of IKEA store workers are women, whereas 75% of warehouse workers are men.
We’ve also exposed that over the last 10 years, minimum retail wages have grown by 37% whereas IKEA store wages have only grown 21%. This is a real wage cut of 16% and RAFFWU campaigns for living wages for all workers.
We know that collective organising is the way in which workers win better pay and conditions. In order to build the fightback at IKEA, join us today.
