Open Online Meeting For All Reddrop Employees

If you work at any Reddrop stores you are warmly invited to a special online meeting for both members and those yet to join RAFFWU. By bringing workers from across different stores together we can see that we are not alone in wanting to see better conditions for workers at Reddrop. At the meeting we’ll answer your questions. We will also explain why Reddrop is negotiating with RAFFWU, how bargaining works and why RAFFWU members in other workplaces have higher wages and better conditions than companies like Reddrop, Woolworths and Coles.

Meeting Time: 7pm Tuesday August 5th

Workers at over 20 Reddrop stores across Australia are bargaining for a new enterprise agreement.

A new “agreement” was made by SDA without workers knowing in May 2025. As soon as RAFFWU members became aware, they asked RAFFWU to participate in bargaining too.

The SDA deal paid only 3c-7c above the absolute minimum and some conditions were less than the Award. This is what SDA tries to negotiate with big business in return for the bosses helping SDA recruit child workers to SDA (paying up to 15% of their meagre wages to SDA.)

We took our case to the Fair Work Commission where SDA fought for workers not to have the chance to bargain for a fairer deal.

Instead, Reddrop Group agreed with RAFFWU that they would return to the bargaining table. You can join RAFFWU and be represented in bargaining by RAFFWU too. Join up now and appoint RAFFWU your bargaining representative!

Fight back with RAFFWU

Our analysis of a large group of RAFFWU members at Morgan’s IGA showed they were losing, on average, over $3400 per year from their pay – more than $65 per week in lost wages. For a full-time worker, penalty rates can be worth over $10, 000 per year.

In May 2017 the Fair Work Commission agreed to terminate this zombie agreement which cut the pay of 350 workers at Morgan’s. From 1 July 2017, these workers went on to earn full Sunday penalty rates, 125% Weeknight rates and 125% Saturday rates. Part-time workers at Morgan’s IGA have guaranteed minimum hours every week and their rostered days can only change after consultation.

This decision was a huge win for RAFFWU members, and a testament to what we can achieve with worker-led organising.

Why join RAFFWU?

We help members figure out how much they are entitled to and get issues fixed.

By working together we can not only take back our penalty rates, we can secure better conditions for the future.

We know that workers only achieve the terms and conditions they deserve through their direct, collective action. We are a grassroots, member-led union, and we will always put the needs of our members first.

To organise your workplace, join the union that fights for you and encourage your co-workers to get involved.
