National Industrial Advisor

The Retail and Fast Food Workers Union represents members across Australia in the retail and fast food sectors.
The primary focus of the role is to:
- Handling the industrial enquiries of members;
- Advising members, delegates and officials on industrial issues;
- Representing and advocating for the union in meetings, tribunals and other fora;
- Supporting members in negotiating terms and conditions; and
- Implementing the campaigns of the Union.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Advisor (or two at 0.6 FTE) to join our team. The primary focus of the role is to provide industrial advice, support and representation to members and delegates, including to members in remote settings by phone, email, video call and other tools. This includes as the first point of contact for members as well as ongoing management of cases and disputes. On occasion these will include assisting in resolution of disputes in tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission.
Candidates with experience in union member advice or union contact centres, experienced organisers wanting to shift focus, final year law students or recent law graduates wanting to commence working for a genuine union, as well as others who demonstrate the skills necessary for the role are encouraged to apply.
The Union is engaged in numerous campaigns and actions involving members at some of Australia’s largest retailers and fast food companies. This position will involve working closely with Union officials, delegates and members on campaigns to fight for the rights of Australia’s lowest paid workers.
Salary: $90,000 to $97,000 plus superannuation dependent on skills and experience (pro rata for part-time.)
